Dutch Artist Disqualified from Eurovision Song Contest After Backstage Incident

Allegations of Intimidation

Just hours before the Eurovision Song Contest final was scheduled to begin in Turin, Italy, the Dutch artist Joost Klein was disqualified following an alleged backstage incident.

The Eurovision Broadcasting Union (EBU), responsible for the contest, released a statement saying, "The Dutch artist Joost Klein will not be allowed to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 following an incident that took place at the contest venue."

According to the EBU, Klein was involved in an altercation with another person backstage at the Pala Alpitour arena. The exact nature of the incident is not yet clear, but the EBU has confirmed that it was serious enough to warrant Klein's disqualification.

Klein was scheduled to perform his song "Me and My Guitar" in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on May 10th. However, following his disqualification, the Netherlands will no longer be represented in the contest.

The EBU has said that it is investigating the incident and will take appropriate action against Klein if necessary.
